What items are you looking for?
The type of goods we are seeking is always changing, but we carry true vintage clothing, accessories and home decor. This includes formal and casual dresses, specializing in 1950s through 1970s (but also beyond), fashion accessories such as hats and purses, costume and semi-fine (bridge) jewelry, glass and barware, and home decor items. We also feature wedding and bridal fashions during the spring and/or summertime, so that fab vintage gown doesn’t need to go to waste. While we mainly carry women’s clothing, we would also be open to menswear and items geared towards men’s collectibles. Items may be chosen if they are seasonally appropriate, fit in with the existing collections nicely, or there is a known demand for them. Unfortunately we do not have the space for larger furniture pieces at this time, nor do we accept highly valuable fine jewelry items.
How are items priced and how much will I receive?
Once items are chosen, they are often researched for recent comparable sales information and will be priced with the local customer and market in mind using years of experience in the industry. We strive to strike a balance between maximizing the sale for the customer, while giving items a fair opportunity to sell within the allotted timeframe. If the owner has a minimum they wish to receive for an item based on their knowledge or research, this is something we are open to discussing. Owners will receive 60% of the final sales price. There is a 15% price buffer integrated into the asking price to allow for any sales or promotions.
What is the consignment period?
At present we offer consignments on a 60 day period. We can discuss if there are upcoming events around the period which might be suitable to showcase your items to more potential buyers, thus extending the 60 day agreement. Items removed prematurely by the owner are subject to a 25% removal fee.
How is payment received?
Payments are made via e-transfer within 14 days of the end of the consignment period to allow for any potential returns.
What happens after the consignment period?
Owners have the option to retrieve their items or they may choose to automatically donate them after the consignment period is through. Items will be held for retrieval for 14 days or until the next business day unless other arrangements are made. Donated goods may become property of Sky Meadows Vintage or be donated to a charity as appropriate. Items not retrieved or arranged for retrieval will be considered abandoned and/or donated.
Are my items safe at the shop?
Luckily our shop space is fairly small, and we can have a good overview of the shop at all times. We also have cameras on site to deter potential theft. While we make every effort to mitigate any risks, certainly there is still some small possibility of breakage or theft, which is considered to be the risk taken by the owner.
